SAU employees withdraw sit-in

Officials and employees of Sylhet Agricultural University withdrew their sit-in programme on Sunday after the authorities concerned had given them assurance of meeting their demands within next 15 days.The officials and employees had been staging the sit-in on the campus since Wednesday to press for their three-point demands, including promotion and increments.Niyamat Ullah, convener of the movement forum, told New Age that they had put off the agitation till January 15 following the assurance given by the university authorities.Registrar AH Mostafa Kamal acknowledged the matter, saying that the authorities have agreed to address the demands as per the university act.
